Then we headed to Trafalgar Square so they could see the National Gallery and the famous fountains, and then we headed on the tube to go to Portobello Market - a market like Camden that is set up in Notting Hill - in fact portions of the movie where actually shot there. We got there just as it was closing everything down, but we still walked down the road to admire the pastel house fronts, the eclectic variety of shops and the antique goods set up along the road - and of course wishing we would find our own Hugh Grant amongst the crowds :)
At this point we were all very tired and ready to go back to the flat for a quick rest before heading back out for dinner. We sat around and caught up on each other's lives - it is so amazing how just a couple of months ago we were talking about meeting up and being abroad and how amazing it would be, and there we were, doing just that. I think seeing them made how rare and special this opportunity is shine for all of us. It is really a surreal time in our lives.
After a relaxing dinner at a local pub right in Warwick Ave, we headed back to the flats to show the girls one last night out on the London town. We got ready and went upstairs to the boys "penthouse" flat - simply meaning they have the flat at the very very top of the building, which is quite the climb so they have termed it their "penthouse." We all listened to music and hung out before going to Oxford Circus, getting horribly caught in a wind and rainstorm along the way, and so began an evening of unfortunate events - the club we wanted to go to was closed, the rain kept getting heavier and heavier, there was stupid drama amongst some people in the group (a group that was much too big girls had to catch a 3:30 am bus to head home and were already exhausted from the trip - all leading to my early arrival home at 12am - which was much needed because I was exhausted.
I had a good night sleep and said good bye to my Italian loves as they headed back to Perugia (a place I am going to visit on my Fall break), woke up this morning (Sunday) and decided I was going to do absolutely nothing but watch movies, work on my lit essay, stay in my pj's and let the rain fall on the ground outside, instead of on my head for once. Today is a "me" day! Well, I say that now, but so much can change when you have the city at your fingertips.
Love and hugs,
Jenny
ps: I need to make some quick shout outs because I have been so busy that I feel as though I have been neglectful -
I miss all of you so much and I am sorry if I do not call as much as I should or would like too or email you back right away. The time difference plus my hectic schedule really does make it difficult - not to mention it costs a lot of money to use my cell phone and skype simply is not always the most reliable outlet either - so hang in there with me. Keep reading my blog and I promise I will get in touch with everyone personally soon! love you all so much
