Today, I am in London listening to the coverage of an election that truly affects the world. It is a great perspective to have, and while our media coverage is limited (because we do not have cable and BBC can only cover so much), it has been great to see this historical moment unfold from across the pond. To be honest, we are all a little glad to be out of America, where it is full of craze and controversy. It has been nice to be a bit separated from it all, and yet there are moments I wish it was a bit easier to get access to updates. As the hour approaches 1 am, it is still pretty early on in America, and right now McCain is in the lead, but as we all know too well, things can change very quickly come the next couple of hours.
Other than the election, I had theater class in the morning, followed by Pub day for history class - he gave us the class off to instead watch the election at a pub. But at the time of our lunch it was only 10 am in the US, so there was not much to watch. After lunch, I came home and took a long walk with Katie around Regent Park which was much needed. Then we headed off to see the show Ivanov, with stars Richard Branum who was in one of the Harry Potter movies. It was a fantastic show!! But come next Tuesday, we will analyze and discuss the heck out of it in theatre class which will probably kill it for all of us, but as for now, it was one of my favorite plays we have seen so far.
After coming home, I realized my class schedule would be posted. I did not get any of my first choices like I should have - study abroad students are supposed to have preference. I do not know a few of the professors I have been assigned, and it is not my ideal times, which is extremely frustrating. I cried - had a bit of a break down.
(Lynn- I have Corporate Pub with Lashley, the time SUCKS (5:30pm), but I think it will be cool to have her as a teacher. I also have Gallagher for Comm Research - no idea who he/she is..., then I have Science without Borders with Grimley who has bad reviews on rate my prof which scares me... I signed up for Gammon UGH, and it is at 8am.... AND I didn't get Media Law and Ethics for winter OR SPRING! meaning I have to take it my SENIOR YEAR....UGH.....it also means I am taking GST QUILTING for winter term - I put it as an alt. because I needed an upper level GST and I love the teacher, but I never thought I would even have to worry about actually getting it..... do you know anything the quilting class? ugh, make me feel better, TOTALLY SUCKS...what the heck..... PS- HAPPY ONE YEAR ANNIVERSARY! LOVE YOU!)
I still have Fridays off which is good, but I was REALLY hoping for a solid spring semester....
I have also decided to apply for Assistant Director for Live Oak, our student run PR agency, which is exciting but scary. It just means that we are so close to going back full-fledge into Elon life and it is already totally stressing me out - just the thought of extracurriculars, classes, office hours....ugh..... so not the ease of London life.
Other than that, pretty average day. I am on my way out of my funk - especially when I remember that Christmas time is just around the corner... - but it was still a little gloomy with white skies and a cold breeze. But enough about me, for two men, one of whose childhood dreams will actually come true, this day is the most important day of their lives - so I wish them both luck, and I will certainly blog about the results tomorrow!
Love and hugs,
Jenny
